Overview
Operating
Alton Towers is one of the UK’s most iconic theme parks, set within the scenic grounds of a former estate once owned by the Earls of Shrewsbury. The site first opened to the public in 1860 as landscaped gardens and gradually evolved, officially becoming a theme park in 1980. Its transformation was inspired by Disneyland, blending historic charm with cutting-edge entertainment.
Today, Alton Towers is renowned for its world-class rides and record-breaking attractions. It’s home to several “world’s first” roller coasters, including the first-ever B&M dive coaster and flying coaster.
